About Me

My name is James Dick. I’m an actor, author, screenwriter, director, and sometimes Santa’s elf. My career began in 2020 when the Canadian magazine Blank Spaces accepted my short story, “Paper Mite Revolution.”

In 2023 I had my professional break with the acceptance of my hard sci-fi novelette “EDIE” in Analog Science Fiction and Fact, a story about the search for life on Europa, which leads to the discovery of something far stranger. “EDIE” received widespread critical acclaim, including from former spacecraft engineer Karen Burnham writing for Locus Magazine. I followed this story up with a sequel, “ESRI”, in 2025. A third and final Europa story is forthcoming.

My debut novel, Seekers of the Fallen Stars, is a fantasy swashbuckler tale in the same vein as Pirates of the Caribbean, and is due to be published by Flame Arrow Publishing.
